I got back from NYC a few days ago and discovered that mom forgot to move two of my overgrown tomato plants, so they got destroyed by the landscaper. Pretty mad about that, since mom was too busy when I asked her to help me move it before I left and then forgot when I was in NYC. Several metal stakes, two fabric bags, a borage plant and nasturtium were destroyed as well. I know I will grow more stuff next year, but both tomatoes were fruiting. Mom feels incredibly guilty about it, but what to do?
Luffa is a failure as well. No fruits despite lots of flowers and pollinators since June. Going to rip that out and grow cucumbers in its place until the weather gets too cold. Mom did harvest the only two successful bell peppers I grew (one from each plant) and cherry tomatoes are being harvested.

I seeded cucumbers and carrots in some pots. I took out the dying big tomato plant that’s diseased out of its pot. I Need to get soil to fill up some other pots for fall crops. I also need to figure out which plant goes where and probably move elderberries into my flower bed. So much to do.

Me and mom finally planted bushes in the garden bed, along with arranging perennials. I have been saving seeds from some annuals as well. One of my transplanted elderberries died, so I need a replacement for that. Lettuce, carrots, last minute cucumbers are growing pretty quickly despite having seeded them a few days ago. Dahlia might bloom very soon as well.

Seeded dwarf snap peas into a pot, planted perennials in the ground, pulled out a dead elderberry bush that needs to be replaced.

I got a greenhouse, but I don’t know when it will be built — I hope soonish. Dahlias should bloom in a week or so. Found a bunch of dead wasps in my sarracenia, so mom’s grateful that I have that to prevent wasps making nests around the house.

Vegetables are growing rapidly, which is good for fall harvesting. The peas are ready to vine the stakes very soon. One of the flowers I got which I did not expect to flower until next summer is currently blooming.

MY DAHLIAS HAVE BLOOMED! I REPEAT, DAHLIAS HAVE BLOOMED!!! I was late putting tubers in, and they finally bloomed! I love the variety. Let’s see if others will bloom soon before frost happens in October. My Hot Poker flower also bloomed, and I wasn’t expecting that to happen until next year since I got that plant on sale and planted it earlier this month.
