Did some outside work in the heat. It was not fun at all. Mom and I laid landscape fabric. I watered plants and finally fertilized some of them. I noticed that a neighbor’s kid quietly appeared; he told me and mom that there’s a deer in our backyard. That changes the plant plan for my future garden area. Yes, I saw the deer.

The deer came back, I got some pictures of her. Also transplanted a lupine and a pepper plant into the last two remaining five gallons fabric pots. Also finally planted dahlia tubers, hope I’m not too late for that. The roses from the previous owners are dark red. So many foxgloves as well, and they’re beautiful.

Peonies have bloomed and they’re a beautiful dark pink. I love them. I do not love the heatwave and lack of rain, though. That’s problematic because everything needs to be watered.

Yesterday, I transplanted the majority of my plants into new containers. Still have a few left, but it’s not too bad. I also discovered tomatoes starting to grow fruit, so that’s exciting.

Yesterday, before the heat set in, I harvested lettuce from my garden because it was ready. Anyways, there were a few leaves that weren't good enough for mom so I decided to put them in an area where I knew rabbits would find them. Last night when the sun was setting, we saw a rabbit. It went to where I put the lettuce leaves and had a feast, which made me happy.

Mom loved the lettuce in her salad that I grew. She even said it’s her favorite type of lettuce, which is a success to me. Definitely will grow more food that mom likes to save her money. Finally got rain after several days of heatwave (yes, I watered plants every evening and some mornings). Also moved some tropical plants outside for the summer.
